How
would you
do it?

How
Would You Do It? places three readers in
a hypothetical situation where they are
entertainment writers for the Youthlink.
They are given three crazy scenarios and
one chance to tell us how they would do
it.
Scenario:
You were told to review what happens to
be one of your favourite singles. You have
already made little scribbles and funny
comments to include; you only have to put
it all together now. But, the song is changed
at the last minute. There are many ways
to handle this kind of situation, question
is, How Would You Do It?
The
new song does not reflect your musical taste,
plus you've heard it a million times already
and ... well ... it's annoying and you don't
think you can listen to it for another second,
even though you would need to in order to
do your assignment. With all this in mind
you ...
Karim:
That's tricky. I would clear my head and
all my thoughts and channel my energy towards
listening to the song.
Gileanne:
Just bear it and listen to it and after
I've finished, I'd listen to some good music
that I like to ease the pain (smiling).
Darian:
I would just listen to it and get it over
with, or I would put it off until the last
possible minute and probably watch some
TV while listening to it.
Both
the review and a paper that's worth 70 per
cent of your coursework grade for school
is due on Wednesday. Today is Tuesday and
you haven't started either, so you've basically
got half a day to complete both on time.
You ...
Karim:
Start cramming and jotting down ideas and
views and formulate them into two pieces,
the essay and the article (laughs).
Gileanne:
Stay up all night and finish both, give
them in and go to sleep for the rest of
the day (smiling).
Darian:
Miss school because I would suddenly fall
ill (cough, cough) and do them both at home
and hand them in.
OK,
so it's Wednesday and finally you've finished
your essay and completed your article and
you're about to send it in when the electricity
suddenly goes and when you reboot, there's
no article. You ...
Karim:
Tell the boss what happened and hope for
the best. I mean what else could I do?
Gileanne:
Hmm ... okay (laughs out loud), all right.
It would take some time for me to recuperate,
then I'd check if I had a back-up on my
thumb drive. If I didn't, I'd get cracking
at writing a letter of apology to my boss.
Darian:
I would explain the situation to the boss
and hope that he/she gives me an extension.
